The renovation of an apartment in the historical center of Valencia, was the perfect setting for implementing any restoration manual. Termites, brick columns, wood coffered ceilings, false ceilings and exterior carpentry cane of wood with a single crystal, all this demanded a daily presence on site.
A double height space and an attic were introduced to retrieve a lost space. The kitchen, living-dining room and a single bedroom with a toilet were placed on the entrance floor. A library, a spacious master bedroom and a bathroom were placed in the upper floor.
All the structural elements were maintained although almost all of them had to be reinforced: the columns with an auxiliary steel structure and the slabs with lightweight insulating elements as a new base for the parquet.
Only the rooms located behind (bedroom and bathroom) are separated from the rest of the apartment, which is perceived as a single space.
